OCAS AIMS

Our Society meets weekly in term time during the evening (7.30-9.30pm) to enable us to fulfil our artistic potential, and encourage each other in our endeavours.

We provide a live model every week to increase portraiture skills. We also have a Still Life table to hone those skills. Members are encouraged to work on their own projects and creative ideas.

Our tutors, Stephen Hawkins and Clive Hills are established professional artists, and they inspire and guide us in our individual efforts. The quality of our tutors is vital as we are a society that gathers together to improve and to learn new skills .

We do NOT have a selection committee – we welcome all artists and aspiring artists of all abilities. We aim to nurture talent and enthusiasm to help members find their own expression in visual art. We are mutually supportive rather than competitive.

We run at least two Exhibitions a year – one at the Grange Park Summer FĂȘte; and one at our usual meeting place at the Old Coulsdon Bowling Club. However, our Exhibitions are more concerned with communicating our artistic vision than with commercial viability.

We value the social aspect of the Society and meetings have a break in the middle so members can meet and socialise in the bar area of the Bowling Club.
